Echoes of History, Embraced by Nature

There’s something timeless about BrickInn set near Letchworth State Park's North Entrance.

Maybe it’s the way the morning light filters through century‑old windows. Or the hush of the garden at dusk, where the towering trees seem to whisper stories from long ago. Or perhaps it’s the feeling you get the moment you step inside—a sense that this home, now inn, has held joy, rest, and connection for generations.

That feeling exists because of the people who came before us.

In the spring of 2015, Chic and Dwight opened the doors of this 1915 Brick Colonial with open arms and a clear vision: to lovingly restore the home and share its charm with travelers exploring Letchworth State Park and the Finger Lakes region. Over the past decade, they transformed BrickInn into a cheerful, elegant retreat—a place where guests could relax, reconnect, and feel at home.

Now, as Chic and Dwight retire from innkeeping, we—Tina and John MacDonald—are honored to continue the journey they began.

This December marks our first 100 days as the new owners of BrickInn. In that short time, we’ve welcomed over 100 guests, shared countless conversations over breakfast, and watched this historic home come alive in new ways.

We’ve celebrated some beautiful firsts:

• Our first wedding

• A new whole‑house backup generator for year‑round comfort

• A cozy new Scrabble table already loved by guests

And in these early months, we’ve learned three things that will guide us into the new year:

1. Guests are the heart of everything. Your stories, celebrations, and need for rest shape every decision we make.

2. History is a gift worth honoring. BrickInn’s past is woven into every room, and we’re committed to preserving the spirit Chic and Dwight cultivated.

3. Intention builds a beautiful business. Every thoughtful improvement, seen or unseen, creates a stay that feels effortless and restorative.

"The home is so beautiful, the food is so delicious, and above all, it is welcoming and comfortable!... Tina and John were incredibly gracious and worked so hard to make us feel at home from the moment we arrived to the moment we had to regretfully leave."
